PASAR TERAPUNG

Terapung Muara Kuin Marekt is a traditional market which is above the river at the mouth of the Barito river Kuin, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. The merchants and buyers use "JUKUNG",  the boat in Banjar language. The market began after the dawn prayer until 7:00 am. The sunrise reflecting light in transactions vegetables and garden produce from the villages along the Barito river and its tributaries.

Atmosphere and Market Activities

By watching the panorama, tourists as if they were sightseeing. Jukung's with merchandise laden vegetables, fruits, all kinds of fish and various household goods available at the Terapung market. When the sun began to emerge gradually the market began to retreat, the merchants began to leave the floating market brings results obtained with satisfaction.

Atmosphere and the unique Terapung market is a typical jostling between large and small boats, buyers and sellers find each other always milling to and fro and the waves are always shaky play Barito river. Tourism Potential

Terapung Kuin market is now likely extinct following a change in the land market. Many tourists visiting Kuin had to swallow disappointment of not finding the exotic market stretching over the water. Extinction of traditional markets in the region "a thousand rivers" was triggered by a greedy land culture and supported by regional development which is always oriented to the mainland. River channels and canals destroyed roads replaced withease. Communities that used to have a lot of jukung’s, now proudly owns a motorcycle or a car.
